WHAT IS THE BED QUOTA?
It’s a federal policy requiring ICE to hold an average of 34,000 individuals in detention on a daily basis, separating families and devastating communities across NJ & the US.
Elizabeth Detention Center is 1 of the 14 facilities that have “minimum guarantees” in their contract with ICE. This is called a local quota.
ICE spends $159 per day to detain one person. Over the course of a year, immigration detention costs total over $2 billion, approximately $5.5 million each day.
Join our rally; and support bill H.R.2808,which prohibits guaranteed profits to private prison companies. Protest both the federal quota that exists in the federal budget appropriation, and the local quota that exists in individual contracts.
